A current awareness tool dedicated to publicizing appearances of Louis D. Brandeis of John Marshall Harlan on the web and in the media. If you know of any new articles, web pages, etc. featuring Brandeis or Harlan that you want me to list here, leave me a comment and tell me about them.

  1. Hi guys, can you give us directions about the magazine which was funded by the New Haven Railroad to blacken the character of Louis Brandeis? I have come across two or three abuses of this source which follow Eustace Mullins claims based on the Truth as if it was apiece of historic evidence. Details about the magazine / journal and its funding would be much appreciated.
    Thanks, Gerry Docherty

Unfortunately, I know precious little about it. We don’t have any issues of the magazine here–just occasional articles and drawings pasted into Brandeis’s scrapbooks. Alpheus Mason, in Brandeis: A Free Man’s Life, claims that the magazine was financed by Charles Mellen and edited by George R. Conroy. It ran from 1912 to 1914, and there appear to be only 2 libraries that have copies of it: New York Public and Rutgers. I hope to make it out to New York to look at them, but until then you now know as much about them as i do.
