Brandeis is on the Cover of Louisville Magazine

It’s time for Louisville Magazine‘s annual Top Lawyers issue (March 2010), and who better to put on the cover than Louis D. Brandeis? Louisville punk rock legend Chip Nold writes an informative overview to Brandeis’s thought and career. He uses Melvin Urofsky’s biography as a starting point and then sprinkles the article with quotes, anecdotes and statements from (among others) Laura Rothstein, Nelson Dawson, James Klotter and Brandeis’s grand-nephew Charles Tachau. It’s a lively read, but it sounds like it could have been an even livelier one if the magazine’s editor had let Nold have his way. As per an email message from Nold: “In the original draft, I called Brandeis ‘a bad mother,’ which they changed to ‘giant.’ But I stand by what I wrote: He’s the Shaft of jurisprudence.”
